The freezing elixir is a fast-acting agent that works on many things to cool them down magically;

You give the starfish a drop of your freezing elixir and it stiffens up, stretching out its five arms.

You pour a drop of freezing elixir on the base of the giant mangrove. There is a brief chill in the air around you which offers a moment’s respite from the humidity, but there is no other effect. - Bogroot Demon (RPA-ADV6)

The effect of the freezing elixir is temporary, and influenced even more so by the surroundings; in the swelter of Bogroot Swamp, it is even more transient;

You pour a drop of Mugbok’s freezing elixir on the basilisk egg. It grows colder in your hands. After a few moments, the oppressive heat of Bogroot Swamp has warmed it up again. It smells worse than ever.

You pour a drop of the freezing elixir on your starfish and it stiffens up with its five arms stretched out tight. You throw it at the tree with all your might, and it sticks into the trunk with a thump. After a few moments, it relaxes and pulls itself free. - Bogroot Demon (RPA-ADV6)

Mugbok tasks you with finding interesting ingredients in Bogroot Swamp to make something that can expel Elsifor.

Upon receipt of an ice slug, she is able to pestle it into the freezing elixir;

Mugbok inspects your ice slug with some interest. “I’ve never seen anything like this, but I think I have an idea.”

Mugbok hops to her hut. You hear the grind of mortar and pestle from within. Mugbok returns some time later. “Not my best work,” she says, “but it should do the trick.” - Bogroot Demon (RPA-ADV6)
