Klynoks

Sentient humanoids from Affril, Plane of Knowledge, Klynoks (singular: Klynoks) are recordkeepers of history across all the planes.

They are users of purplestone and riders of Giant Bats.

Klynoks faces are comprised of a single pink crystal, and their bodies a black rubber-like material.

They lack a skeleton, or internal organs. The entirety of their physical form is given life and controlled by their face crystal.

It is known that their face crystals will modulate in hue to reflect their current mood, e.g. turn red when angered.

Klynoks are able to transform other beings into one of their own, as seen in the case of The Prophet Umin Ulthano.

Klynoks are first and foremost cataloguers and historians by nature, living knowledge-centric lives. They built entire civilizations on the purplestone archways of Affril.

Their offspring grows on trees with prickly trunks. Infant crystals are called “flakes”.

Their staffs are made of purplestone, and can be used as a weapon, crackling with energy when ready for use.

Klynoks have created sentry robots/automatons to perform tasks for them, which can use scanners to read thoughts. These automatons also have built-in alarms as added security measures.

The Demon Elsifor claims that Klynoks have no personality;

Did you know your king put a lot of effort into getting to know the Klynoks? Not an investment I’d care to make myself. They’re a hive mind, you see. Lots of creatures but only one brain. No personality at all.” - Elsifor, Gate of Brizoor Waal (RPA-ADVF)

Two Klynoks are brought to the Colosseum of Ashes, and their Giant Bat is startled by the new surroundings. - Tome of Encounters (RPA-Tome-SQ1-237)

• Rein in the mount:
  • You restrain the Giant Bat long enough for its owners to calm it down and return home.
  • It takes flight and vanishes off into the sky, leaving the Klynoks to return empty-handed.
• Eliminate the Klynoks while they are distracted:
  • They fall to your blade easily and the Giant Bat flies off into the distance.
  • One holds you down while the other reins in their mount, the three returning home.

Your standing with the Klynoks will be influenced by how you handle this situation.

With time frozen in Sabek, you will encounter Klynoks at numerous locations. Depending on choices made while visiting the Endless Stacks, you interactions with them could be a benefit or a hinderance.

Two Klynoks approach you and forcefully remove your bag, they open it and look excited as they find the Book of Traversal.

• Fight back and take back the book from the Klynoks, as this is the duty placed upon you.
• Let the Klynoks keep the book, as the jewel on the front resembles them and must have belonged to them.
