Brass Compass

An ordinary-looking compass made of brass. The inner lid is painted with a beautiful green meadow of wildflowers. Goldbelly Mountain can be seen in the background.

The compass is functional and can be useful on expeditions. It originally belonged to Gulpax.

In the spirit of friendship, I also loaned him [Landrus] my compass. Though the item is quite useful in a pinch, it is technically cursed. - Gulpax's Journal (GS-Journal)
Description:Made of Brass, Image on Lid Interior
Origin:Originally Gulpax's

Mystical Nature

The compass needle behaves as one would expect it to. It points to north as any compass should.

The painting in the lid, however, will change depending on the circumstance or based on who is holding it at the time.

“I should have warned you. The needle points north, but the painting shows the path of your fate — where you’re headed or where you’ve been. Sometimes it shows you where you’d like to be.” - Captain Landrus - The Frozen Expanse (GS-ADV6)

The Frozen Expanse (GS-ADV6)

Upon your arrival to the Frozen Expanse, Captain Landrus offers you his compass to aid you on your journey.

“I should have warned you. The needle points north, but the painting shows the path of your fate _ where you're headed or where you've been. Sometimes it shows you where you'd like to be.” - Captain Landrus - The Frozen Expanse (GS-ADV6)

You find that when used with a combination of items, the compass proves to be more useful than just finding north.

The image on the inner lid will change depending on your current location. You will see things from the past, the present, and even the future: Queen Gimnax burning letters, a frozen cavern, a young Kaiika boy trapped in a tree, an icy wall, a prisoner held in a tower cell, a Frost Giant feast, a wooden chest of armor, a great battle to come, and an enormous city built beneath the ice.

“The Arcazion City. In the age of Azema, Kaiika and Frost Giants both lived under the rule of the Flayers.” - Dreni - The Frozen Expanse (GS-ADV6)

You find a non-functioning Construct deep in the ice caverns. Combined with the Arcazion Stone, you are able to snap them both into the empty sockets in his chest. He gradually begins to move and then quickly runs from the cavern.
