Infections are the result of germs and other microorganisms entering the body. They may enter the body in a variety of ways including open wounds or natural openings such as the eyes.

Cursed infections behave primarily the same way, with the added disadvantage of being incurable.

After crafting an exquisite [[accursed_blade|blade]] for a [[sorceress_in_black|Sorceress in Black]], she completes her ritual by cutting you across your chest. The cut is deep and infected. The pain is constant. Local healers have warned you it is incurable and your only chance of survival is to destroy the [[accursed_blade|accursed blade]] that caused the wound. - Festival of Heroes (GS-ADV1)

Tracking her through [[ulos|Ulos]], you finally confront her in the [[frozen_expanse|Frozen Expanse]]. As she flees, she drops the [[accursed_blade|sword]] you created. Being near the [[accursed_blade|sword]] eases the pain. Destroying it would end it forever. - The Frozen Expanse (GS-ADV6)
